Blackpool-born Simon Sadler has overseen one promotion and one relegation since buying the club seven years ago

League One strugglers Blackpool have become the latest EFL club to report substantial losses.
The Seasiders, who are a point above the relegation zone heading into Friday's critical game against Exeter City, lost £4.3m in the year ending June 30, 2025.
The loss represents a steep increase on their £2.8m deficit the previous year and is in keeping with the trend across the league.
Ten League One clubs have returned their figures for 2024-25, with losses averaging £8.2m - almost double the £4.2m average from the previous year.
While the numbers are skewed by the £35.1m loss made by Cardiff City, who were relegated from the Championship last season, the deficits of Wycombe Wanderers' and Burton Albion - £9.8m and £8.1m, respectively - represented huge leaps on the previous year.
Blackpool, like most League One clubs, are heavily reliant on their owner - Simon Sadler, who bought the Seasiders in 2019.
Without his continued backing, they would be badly exposed, with the auditors noting in the report that "a material uncertainty exists that may cast significant doubt on the company's ability to continue as a going concern".
While spending on players was a major contributory factor to Blackpool's loss, the position was worsened by a 9.1 per cent fall in revenues because of an early cup and a drop in sponsorship income.
