Peterborough United boss Luke Williams believes Kyrell Lisbie's second hat-trick of the season shows he has the potential to play "at any level" of the game.

The son of former Leyton Orient and Charlton striker Kevin scored twice in the first nine minutes and completed his treble in the 90th as Posh ran out 6-1 winners against Wigan Athletic.

He has now contributed 12 goals this season, having been signed from National League club Braintree Town last May.

"It's surreal, I scored a hat-trick in the Vertu Trophy and that was special but to do it in the league in my professional debut season, I can't describe how I feel," Lisbie told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"The manager always talks about winners being in the right place at the right time but when you get there it's about calming down and making sure you make a good connection.

"When I scored those first two goals a hat-trick was on my mind, but most importantly the three points. The way the game panned out was just perfect."

Lisbie is the latest forward to thrive at Peterborough after being plucked from non-league by director of football Barry Fry and chairman Darragh MacAnthony.

Posh manager Luke Williams said: "The only thing to say is 'hands off'. I'm glad that (transfer) window is shut.

"If you doubt Barry or Darragh's ability to spot a player, then you're crazy - you should never doubt that. Yet again, they have found a talented player that looks like he could play at any level."

Lisbie is not the only member of the current footballing generation of his family to be making an impact with twin brother Kyreece having scored 10 goals for Colchester United this season.

"One thing I definitely had to work on coming into this season at Peterborough was my end product being a lot better," Kyrell said.

"There was a period of time where I was missing quite a lot of chances, but I knew that when one went in, they would flood in."

The game against Wigan was also special for another young Peterborough forward as Pemi Aderoju scored Posh's fifth goal, his first in professional football.

He was brought back from a prolific loan spell at non-league Eastbourne, where he scored 15 goals in 24 games, and has made eight appearances so far from the bench.

"He made a brilliant first touch and then he was so calm and selected exactly the right finish," boss Williams said.

"He's worked so hard since returning from his loan and players running the length of the pitch to go and celebrate (with him) says everything about the group at the moment."
