Jersey Bulls suffered a rare home defeat as they lost 2-0 to mid-table Ashford United at Springfield.
Bulls had the better of the first half chances as Jack Lumsden and Luke Campbell went close.
But it was Ashford took the lead two minutes before half time as Jack Dixon chested down a clearance on the edge of the Bulls box before unleashing an excellent dipping right-footed volley into the top corner.
Louis Collins narrowly missed doubling Ashford’s lead shortly after the break as Bulls struggled to create many clear cut chances.
The defeat was confirmed in stoppage time when Gary Lockyer pounced on Luke Watson’s weak backpass, rounded goalkeeper Pierce Roche and slotted into the empty net.
The loss - just a second at home this season - sees Bulls seventh in Isthmian League South East, nine points off the play-off places.
The island side are next in action when they face sixth-placed Merstham at home on 3 January.
