James Garner has signed a new four-and-a-half year contract with Everton - committing him to the club until June 2030.
The midfielder, 24, joined the Toffees from Manchester United in 2022 and has started every game in all competitions for them so far this season, scoring three goals and providing three assists.
Garner's Everton contract was set to expire in the summer and he was linked with a move back to United in December, before they sacked head coach Ruben Amorim.
The former England youth international said Everton's aim this season is to get into Europe.
"That's what us, as a club, and us as players and staff, should be aiming for. Nothing less," he told Everton TV.
Everton are 10th in the Premier League, four points behind Merseyside rivals Liverpool, who are in fourth. They face Leeds at Hill Dickinson Stadium on Monday.
Garner joined United's academy at the age of eight and rose through the youth ranks before breaking into the first team, where he made seven appearances.
He has become a key member of David Moyes' midfield since the Scot returned to manage Everton for a second time in January last year.
So far this campaign, Garner is top of the league stats for combined tackles (64), interceptions (32) and key passes (27) with 123 in total.
"The manager has really trusted me and what he asks of me to do on a game day, it suits exactly how I play," Garner said.
"He's been really important since he's come in."
