Jersey Bulls boss Elliot Powell hailed his side's battling credentials as they were 1-0 winners at Eastbourne Town.

Heavy rain meant the Isthmian League South East game only went ahead after a pitch inspection.

The wet conditions made it difficult for both sides to play good football, but the islanders got the win thanks to Fraser Barlow's goal with 14 minutes to go as the second-half substitute fired into the bottom corner.

The win keeps the islanders 12th in the division with up to four games in hand on the sides above them.

"I'm delighted. It wasn't a great game of football but we found a way and I think there's been occasions this year where we haven't found a way," Powell told BBC Radio Jersey.

"So that's a good learning curve for us and I'm delighted that the lads have implemented a lot of things that we spoke about there.

"I thought we fought for each other, we left a bit on them where we could, we battled and I think it was a really robust display for us which I don't think people associate with Jersey teams very often.

"So for us, we've ground it out and we found the way and we've been stoic which I'm delighted with."
