Swindon Town 3-1 Crewe Alexandra

  • Published

Rob Hunt, Jerry Yates and Danny Rose all found the net as League Two leaders Swindon Town triumphed over Crewe Alexandra.

Swindon, who saw top goalscorer Eoin Doyle recalled by Bradford in the week, took the lead through Hunt, who scored with a long-range strike that took a deflection before nestling into the bottom-right corner.

In the 61st minute, Chuma Anene tapped in from two yards out to equalise, but Yates and Rose ensured it was not enough to earn the visitors a share of the spoils.

Yates made it 2-1 in the 69th minute after he latched on to a wonderful chipped through ball by Hunt, took the ball in his stride and then lashed it high into the net from close range, giving Will Jaaskelainen in goal no chance.

Rose then stretched the lead further three minutes later by firing a half-volley into an empty net, with Jaaskelainen on the floor attempting to keep out a Diallang Jaiyesimi shot that hit the bar and a post before dropping into the path of Rose, who scored with ease.
