Newport County had not won at Scunthorpe in 41 years

Newport County came from behind to beat Scunthorpe and secure their first League Two win since October.

Abo Eisa's fine strike had given Scunthorpe a first half lead in difficult conditions at Glandford Park

Jamile Matt brought County level before Scunthorpe's Lee Novak was shown a straight red card.

Padraig Amond's goal a minute later proved to be the winner as Newport ended a run of 10 league games without a win.

Michael Flynn's last league win had been a 2-1 win over Scunthorpe on 19 October and victory at Glandford Park sees them move up to 11th while The Iron drop down to 15th.

Newport County manager Michael Flynn said: "Obviously over the moon, especially after that first half performance because we were terrible. I read the riot act at half time.

"Second half I thought we were outstanding. I thought the game management was brilliant and thought the front three were brilliant when Jamile came on and the midfield were winning second balls.

"I thought they were all excellent and all did their job. As an away performance I can't give them any more credit than what I've given them."
