Women's Super League: Arsenal 2-0 Birmingham City

  • Published

Arsenal maintained their position three points clear at the top of the Women's Super League with a 2-0 win over Birmingham City at Meadow Park.

The home side dominated from the start and it was captain Kim Little who put them ahead in the ninth minute, heading a Vivianne Miedema cross into the bottom right-hand corner.

Jordan Nobbs scored an impressive half-volley from the top right of the box from a Leah Williamson long ball in the 23rd minute to put Arsenal 2-0 up.

By half-time Arsenal could have been six or seven goals ahead after a number of narrow misses and a goal disallowed for offside.

Birmingham came out with more aggression in the second half and Arsenal were unable to extend their lead.

The away team, however, never posed enough of an attacking threat for a comeback to be on the cards.
