Eastleigh 4-2 Harrogate Town

  • Published

Scott Rendell scored a hat-trick as Eastleigh halted Harrogate's nine-match unbeaten run with a 4-2 win.

Brendan Kiernan fired Harrogate into an early lead, but Rendell, who had earlier had a shot cleared off the goal-line, equalised from the penalty spot following Ryan Fallowfield's challenge on Sam Smart.

Rendell headed Eastleigh into a half-time lead, powering home Smart's cross, and the home side doubled their advantage early in the second period through Tom Bearwish after he pounced on a loose ball in the box.

Eastleigh chased a fourth goal before Jack Muldoon pulled one back for the visitors, steering home a rebound after his initial effort was saved.

But Rendell completed his hat-trick just a minute later after intercepting a wayward backpass and rounding the goalkeeper to seal Eastleigh's first league win in four matches.
