Women's Super League: Birmingham City 2-0 Liverpool

  • Published

Birmingham City scored a goal in each half as they earned their first points of the season to beat Liverpool and send the two-time Women's Super League winners to the bottom of the table.

England midfielder Lucy Staniforth made the first, firing in a ninth-minute free-kick from the left, which was met by a header from defender Kerys Harrop.

That was also Blues' first goal in four matches this season after three blanks.

Staniforth then doubled their lead on 83 minutes to secure the three points.

Blues Women are now unbeaten in their past four WSL meetings with Liverpool, who have triumphed only once in their last five visits to Damson Park.

Vicky Jepson's Reds have only one point from this season's first five matches. They have now lost their last five on the road in the WSL, having failed to score in their last four.
