FC Halifax Town 0-2 Boreham Wood

Halifax remain top of the National League despite a home defeat to Boreham Wood.

The Shaymen, held to a goalless draw by lowly Chorley on Tuesday night, endured more frustration but stay at the summit with Yeovil and Bromley also losing.

Kabongo Tshimanga squandered a good chance to give Boreham Wood an early lead when he fired straight at Halifax goalkeeper Sam Johnson.

But the visitors did go ahead a minute before half-time as Tom Champion headed home a Sorba Thomas corner to register his first goal of the season.

Liam McAlinden and substitute Dayle Southwell were denied by Wood keeper Nathan Ashmore in the second half as Halifax searched for the equaliser.

However, Adam McDonnell extended Boreham Wood's advantage 15 minutes from time with a fine free-kick to open his account for the club.

Sub Jeff King struck a post late on for Halifax to cap a miserable afternoon.
