Newport's George Nurse lets fly deep in injury time to score the only goal

George Nurse scored a last-minute winner against Carlisle to move Newport County into the League Two top three.

Padraig Amond perhaps should have given the Exiles an early lead when he fired over the bar after being set up by Jamille Matt's chest-down.

Carlisle's Jack Bridge also went close just before half-time, but his effort went wide of the post.

The game looked destined to end goalless before full-back Nurse's dramatic late strike from 25-yards out.

Newport manager Michael Flynn told BBC Radio Wales:

"It's always a nice time to win the game, but in all honesty we were really poor the second half and Carlisle were the better team

"It's a little bit harsh on them, I've got a lot of time and respect for [Carlisle boss] Steve Pressley and it's bitter-sweet for us because we didn't really deserve it.

"We're only 12 games in and we've got to keep doing what we've been doing, but the important thing today was keeping the clean sheet because it always gives us that platform."
