Goals from Kevin Stewart, Kamil Grosicki and a Dan Potts own goal gave Hull City a thumping win at Luton.

Stewart scored his first of the season just after the hour mark as his volley bounced into the top-left corner.

Grosicki then made the points safe by also finding the left corner three minutes from time with a right-foot shot.

Hull's afternoon was given a veneer when Potts' attempted clearance rebounded into his own net.

It ensured Hull's first away win of the season and snapped a run of five league matches without victory, lifting them up to 14th.

Stewart broke the deadlock in the second half but it took until the closing stages to secure victory as Grosicki slid home his third goal of the season.

A goalmouth scramble in injury time completed Hull's afternoon as Potts tried to clear off his own line, only to fire against his own goalkeeper and into the back into the net.

The misfortune completed Luton's misery and saw them slip to consecutive defeats, keeping them fourth from bottom.

Luton boss Graeme Jones:

"I was pleased with the first-half performance and I thought the goal was coming.

"I asked us to be consistent with our football performance as we had been in the first half and we couldn't sustain it.

"The second goal's a long ball, it's individual errors, the third goal is comical and really it's a 1-0 game."

Hull City boss Grant McCann:

"I thought first half we showed them a little bit too much respect for my liking.

"They had a lot of possession, we didn't get out to the ball enough, but they didn't really hurt us. I thought we were in control in terms of what we were doing, we just didn't get among them enough.

"Second half we showed a different side to us in terms of what we've showing this season with high energy, high pressing, breaking quickly, creating opportunities.

"In the end we probably could have had four or five."
