Salford City 2-0 Solihull Moors

Salford's rejuvenated National League promotion push continued as they beat fellow high-flyers Solihull 2-0.

Big-spending Salford had suffered a recent wobble, going seven games without a win in all competitions, but they have now won three in succession without conceding a goal.

Liam Hogan was the man to make the breakthrough against The Moors, the defender getting on the end of Devonte Redmond's 55th-minute free-kick to head home his first goal of the season.

Solihull, who had gone close through Alex Gudger and Danny Wright in the first half, tried to find a way back but hopes of making it five games unbeaten in the league were dashed by Matt Green's clincher late on.

The much-travelled striker had gone close to scoring moments before but he made no mistake in the 82nd minute with a shot that flew in off the underside of the bar.

Salford's win lifts them to fourth in the table, a point behind third-placed Solihull.
