Aldershot Town 0-2 Chesterfield

Will Evans scored twice as Chesterfield ended a five-game winless run in the National League with victory at Aldershot.

The 2-0 triumph meant back-to-back wins for new boss John Sheridan, who oversaw the FA Trophy success against Bedford.

Gary Waddock's Shots are now without a win in 10, also failing to score at home since 3 November.

Their midfielder Luke Howell blasted over from close range in the 42nd minute and Chesterfield quickly compounded that disappointment by scoring through Evans, who headed in from a Curtis Weston corner.

It was almost 2-0 when Jonathan Smith took aim from the right, but his effort was cleared off the line.

The Spireites kept pushing for a second goal throughout the second half and Smith was unlucky to miss the mark when connecting with Bradley Barry's clever cut-back.

Evans delivered in the 78th minute, the defender converting the rebound after Marc-Antoine Fortune's attempt was saved.
