Gateshead 1-1 FC Halifax Town

Gateshead and Halifax shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw at the International Stadium.

The Shaymen got off to a sensational start as they stormed forward from kick-off and Ben Tomlinson crossed for Jordan Preston to nudge in a goal after 18 seconds.

Surprisingly the remainder of the first half remained tight, but Mark Foden kept Gateshead in it when he reacted superbly to tip another Preston shot on to the crossbar.

The Heed levelled midway through the second half with a great move. Jon Mellish fed JJ O'Donnell down the left, who crossed to Luke Armstrong. The striker back-heeled beautifully into the path of Scott Boden for a simple finish past Sam Johnson.
