Grimsby Town continued their charge up the League Two table with their third straight win - a 1-0 victory at Port Vale.
Wes Thomas won it with a wonderful, swerving strike that gave the Mariners their first win on the road since early October, stretching their run to five league wins in seven games.
Chances were few and far between in the first half at Vale Park, but it was the hosts who looked the most likely to score, Luke Hannant dragging wide from inside the box.
Upon the restart, home goalkeeper Scott Brown raced out to deny Thomas while, at the other end, similar action was needed from James McKeown, with substitute Ben Whitfield lurking.
Whitfield then also struck the post but Grimsby looked a threat on the counter, which they ultimately proved when Thomas cut inside and fired an unstoppable effort into the top corner.
