Harry Anderson's fourth goal of the season gave Lincoln a 2-0 lead over Newport County
Two early goals set Lincoln City on their way to victory over Newport and extend their lead at the top of League Two.
John Akinde scored after three minutes with Newport failing to clear a corner.
Harry Anderson doubled the lead four minutes later but Padraig Amond pulled a goal back for County a minute before half-time.
Tom Pett's volley extended Lincoln's lead and they held on for the win despite Amond's second goal.
Lincoln are now four points clear of second-placed MK Dons, while County drop to eighth.
Newport manager Mike Flynn said: "I'm disappointed with the goals we conceded - it's a common theme.
"It was a shocking start but after the first 25 minutes I thought we were the better team by a mile.
"We knew they were going to start bright and we knew they were going to throw things at us and everything we worked on went out of the window in the first 20 minutes."
