Jack Marriott has been a big hit for Derby since joining them from Peterborough United in the summer

Jack Marriott scored his sixth goal in eight games as Derby came from behind to beat struggling Sheffield Wednesday.

The Owls, without a home league win since August, went in front when Adam Reach scored from a narrow angle.

Harry Wilson levelled after Marriott's initial effort was blocked and the latter then fired home left-footed to put the Rams in front.

Marriott also rattled the crossbar, while Morgan Fox headed against the post for Wednesday after the break.

Derby remained sixth despite the three points, exactly the result boss Frank Lampard wanted after their 3-0 home defeat by Aston Villa prior to the international break.

Wednesday had the upper hand in the early stages as they looked to end a run of five Championship games without a win.

Reach capitalised on a superb ball by Barry Bannan to give them the lead, but Wilson and Marriott scored in the space of six minutes to put the visitors ahead.

The Owls had Fernando Forestieri back in their attack after a hamstring injury, but he shot wide with only keeper Scott Carson to beat, and although Fox went close, they could not find a way to salvage a point, increasing the pressure on manager Jos Luhukay.

Sheffield Wednesday manager Jos Luhukay told BBC Radio Sheffield:

"We lost in five minutes our lead, and it was totally not necessary. We controlled the first 30 minutes of the game - we played very well, we had chances. The two goals were too easy.

"When we look back, every time we make mistakes to give the opponent chances to score. That must be stopped. When we do that, you can't win a game.

"How long have I got? I don't know. I try my best every day with my team and we hope we win the next game."

Derby County manager Frank Lampard told BBC Radio Derby:

"We weren't quite at our best but we got a result, which is what we're going to need to do at times.

"The first 20 minutes were terrible. We were slow, we were passive. Harry's goal settled us down, it gave us a bit more drive in our game. Then we were a bit quicker and we started to create a few chances.

"They went direct at times, we had to compete and I was pleased with how we dealt with balls coming into our box."
