Jonathan Edwards and Nathan Clarke scored the goals as Halifax opened their National League season with a win at Braintree.
Halifax keeper Sam Johnson made a fine save on the half-hour when a cross by the home side was deflected towards goal by a visiting defender.
Home keeper Ben Killip then made a superb diving save to deny Dayle Southwell whose half-volley came close to breaking the deadlock five minutes before the break.
Killip made an acrobatic stop but could do little when Edwards headed in from a corner.
Clarke made it 2-0 to Halifax when he headed into the top corner of the Braintree goal from Ben Tomlinson's corner, wrapping up a comfortable win for his side.
