Ten-man Gateshead dug in to secure a 1-1 draw at Solihull Moors in the National League.
Steve Watson's visitors edged into an early lead when Darren Carter fouled Russell Penn, and Jordan Burrow sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the penalty spot.
Richard Peniket almost made it two, but his effort deflected off Liam Daly on to the Solihull post.
Matters deteriorated for the Heed just before the break when Penn was dismissed for a second yellow card.
Soihull pressed harder with the man advantage in the second period and Wes Atkinson headed in Courtney Richards' ball to level matters.
However, Watson's informed - and improved - side made sure the Moors' winless run extended to six games.
