Macc's Jared Hodgkiss was narrowly off target after 10 minutes as the visitors looked to open their account.

Barrow also went close through Adi Yussuf but he put two efforts narrowly off target in quick succession.

The Silkmen made their pressure pay when they took the lead Hodgkiss scored his first goal for the club following good build-up play.

Elliott Durrell extended Macclesfield's advantage just after the hour when he fired a rising shot into the top corner and that was enough to secure the victory which helped the visitors keep pace with leaders Dover.
