Harvey Barnes' goal was his third of the season for Barnsley
Winger Harvey Barnes scored a stunning goal to earn Barnsley a point against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.
The Owls went close when Kieran Lee's 30-yard effort hit the post, but Adam Reach gave them the lead with a mis-hit shot which looped over Adam Davies.
Barnsley full-back Andy Yiadom headed off the line from Barry Bannan's chip as Wednesday pressed for a second.
But Barnes struck the woodwork in reply before cutting in a few minutes later and curling the ball home to equalise.
The result did neither side any favours, with Wednesday now having won only one game in seven, and Barnsley one in eight.
Reds boss Paul Heckingbottom gave Mamadou Thiam his first start, but the striker was taken off after an opening half in which Wednesday were on top, with Tom Lees twice forcing good saves from Davies either side of Reach's fortuitous strike.
A last-ditch block by Angus MacDonald denied Wednesday striker Steven Fletcher, before 19-year-old Barnes brought Barnsley level with his superb individual effort.
Davies kept out a header by Owls substitute Jordan Rhodes but Barnsley came closest to a winner when the ball came off Rhodes' head into his own net, only for the goal to be disallowed for a foul in the build-up.

Sheffield Wednesday boss Carlos Carvalhal: "We had more threats, we played near the goal of Barnsley. Before we scored our first goal, we had three or four chances to score, even in the first 15 minutes.
"The opponents played with organisation, of course, they scored one goal. But they scored one goal from two, three situations they were near our goal.
"I remember three times the ball was by the last line. The goalkeeper saved with his feet and there was one defensive header off the line.
"We fight, we run, we play with a big commitment, with big hearts, we create chances and we didn't give too many chances to the opponent to score."
Barnsley head coach Paul Heckingbottom told BBC Radio Sheffield: "It's a good point in the end, considering how we started the game.
"Lots of individuals got lots of things wrong, but the players showed a real drive and determination to get a result.
"We know we can be better than that, because we got little tactical things wrong which put us under pressure.
"I have to be positive about the running power and determination to cause Wednesday problems second half, but we could have made the game easier for ourselves."
