St Peter and Trinity have progressed to the quarter-finals of Jersey's annual Trinity Shield competition.

Scott Welsh scored a hat-trick in 25 minutes as St Peter brushed aside St Martin 7-1, with Ryan Thorpe on the scoresheet twice alongside Richard Stilwell and Dan Tardivel.

Meanwhile, Trinity were 2-1 winners over St John at Les Quennevais.

St Peter will face St Lawrence in the last eight next week, while Trinity will take on 2014 champions Grouville.

Reigning champions St Brelade are already through to the semi-finals after a 5-1 win over St Saviour on Monday.

The tournament is the oldest football competition in the Channel Islands and sees players represent the parish where they were either born or reside in.
