Aldershot Town captain Craig Stanley has left the Conference Premier club after failing to agree a new contract.
The 31-year-old midfielder joined the Shots from Bristol Rovers in summer 2012, but missed most of his first campaign at the club with a broken leg.
He was appointed skipper last August and made a total of 53 appearances during his time with the Shots.
"The club would like to thank Craig for his efforts and wish him well for the future," an Aldershot statement said., external
Stanley posted on his Twitter account:, external "With much sadness I won't be renewing my contract with Aldershot.
"I would have had to take a substantial pay cut and I can't afford to do that.
"So I'd like to thank everyone at Aldershot the staff and the fans for the two years I was there and to be captain of the team was one of my best moments in my career.
"Time to look for a new team and new chapter."
