Birmingham link flatters Portsmouth boss Steve Cotterill

Portsmouth boss Steve Cotterill has said speculation linking him to the vacant managerial position at Birmingham City is "flattering".

Former Birmingham boss Alex McLeish, external resigned on Sunday amid rumours that he is to take over at Aston Villa.

He told BBC Radio Solent: "Obviously it's flattering, it's nice that someone has recognised the work that I did at Pompey last year.

"I'm happy here and I have never said anything different."

He added: "There has been quite a bond between me and the fans here since I walked through the door.

"It's about building a football club and that takes time."
