It is a weird one because we are still looking at Luke Littler as the main man, but the reality is that he is still learning.

He is at a time in his career where going four or five weeks without winning makes us think about if it's turning into a problem. It wasn't though because he has been winning away from here anyway.

I reckon he will kick on now.

  5. 'The table looks good now'published at 22:59 GMT 5 March

Luke Littler speaking on Sky Sports about the mood in his practice room before tonight: "I think the flight has been here, there and everywhere. I've not been very happy in the practice room, I've just been wanting to practice, get on stage, and get this over and done with. I'm glad about the win tonight."

On moving up to third in the Premier League table: "The table looks good now, it wasn't looking good when I was in seventh. It just goes to show that tonight I had to focus on myself.

"In my first match against Josh [Rock], I wasn't playing at my best either but I came out victorious. But then, against Gerwyn [Price] and Jonny [Clayton], I had to put it in to get it done.

"I've just been trying to take all of this game-by-game and week-by-week. It hadn't gone my way this far but tonight is something I will take forward to the UK Open in Minehead."

  6. How it standspublished at 22:58 GMT 5 March

We started the night talking about how Luke Littler was languishing down in seventh.

Well, a few hours later and the teenager is up to third and looking in a much better spot as he tries to regain the title he won in 2024.

  7. 'I've felt good every single week'published at 22:56 GMT 5 March

Luke Littler, speaking to Sky Sports on stage, after taking the win on night five: "It took me a little while to get settled in to this tournament, as it did in the first year.

"I've done really well tonight and I'm proud of myself. I said in my pre-match interview that I've felt good every single week, but I just hadn't shown it. I had even been playing well in practice.

"I'm just so grateful that tonight I could bring my practice play on to this stage and that's what I've done."

On the improvement he showed from the quarter-final to the semi-final: "I think I had to do that, especially playing here in Wales. I just slowed things down a little bit tonight, obviously there was a little twist of the flight here, there and everywhere but I still just felt very confident because I slowed down in practice and it was going OK.

"With the fans on your back, you just sort of take your time anyway and that allows you to measure your shots well."

It may not have been the winner the majority of the crowd wanted in the Welsh capital, but Luke Littler appeared to be rediscovering his form and put on a show in Cardiff.

It was a really fantastic final. I predicted it might go all the way, it didn't quite get that far due to some Luke Littler magic.

That was some kind of performance! He gets an applause for his efforts as well. It is certainly the start of something for him in this tournament.

Jonny Clayton looked a little deflated. He hit six 180s and he just didn't have much more under his belt.

You wouldn't think it'll be too long before Littler is breathing down Clayton's neck.

    Result: Clayton 4-6 Littler

A wonderful final in which both players averaged over 100.

Luke Littler led the way on 106.44 and was 54.55% on the doubles as well - that is going to take some beating.

Jonny Clayton gave it a good go with an average of 100.9, six 180s to Littler's five and 50% on the outer ring.

A fabulous effort but not quite good enough.

    Clayton 4-6 Littler

Luke Littler spoils the party in Cardiff!

The world number one is back in business in the Premier League.

It's a scrappy leg but he gets it done, ignoring the boos as he walks up needing 52.

Tops to win it and tops he gets. A first nightly win of 2026 for Littler, beating home favourite Jonny Clayton in a brilliant final.

Luke Littler gets the break of throw - and look at that yelp!

You don't want to think when you're up on that stage because sometimes your world can turn upside down in a matter of seconds.

It's pretty safe to say this final has been the best match of the night.

  13. Littler breaks and will throw for the matchpublished at 22:44 GMT 5 March

    Clayton 4-5 Littler

How crucial could that be?! Luke Littler thinks it could be pretty important based on his celebration!

He really gives it some after taking out 80 to break... all after an errant dart goes into the treble one to start.

Littler recovers it and will now throw for the match.

I did suggest this one could go all the way before we got started.

It is looking more and more likely, especially because I don't see Jonny Clayton breaking Luke Littler at this stage.

    Back and forth they go.

Luke Littler starts the leg with a 180 and hits tops to win it.

The odd boo and otherwise complete silence in Cardiff.

It must be so sweet to be a Ferret right now!

Jonny Clayton finished that one off in 11 darts. It really is a battle in both ways.

Cardiff is being treated to some scintillating stuff here and Littler narrowly misses the nine-darter and is punished by Jonny Clayton!

    Clayton 4-3 Littler

    Incredible! What a leg!

Luke Littler hits eight perfect darts, misses double 15 for the nine-darter... and doesn't get a 10th dart.

That's because Jonny Clayton hits two 180s himself in the leg to hold with an 11-darter.

    Remarkable stuff.

    Double 15 ties it up.
