Nottinghamshire beat Derbyshire by eight wickets |
Holders Nottinghamshire booked their spot in the One-Day Cup knockout stages with a thumping eight-wicket win against Derbyshire at Trent Bridge.
The visitors were bowled out for just 110 inside 35 overs as England seamer Jake Ball took 4-29 in his 10 overs.
Matthew Carter claimed 3-19 from seven overs, while only Wayne Madsen (37) and Matt Critchley (33) could pass 30.
Notts reached the target in just 11.5 overs, with Riki Wessels (63 off 34 balls) and Tom Moores starring.
The Outlaws finished second in the North Group after having to wait for other results and will play Kent at home in the play-off round on Thursday, 14 June.
Both they and Derbyshire went into their final group match with hopes of going through, but Derbyshire's chances were quickly extinguished when they slumped to 19-3 after winning the toss and electing to bat.
Nottinghamshire have won their last three group games to seal one of the three qualification spots, while Derbyshire lost their last two to miss out.
Notts bowler Jake Ball:
"We said at the start that we were looking to put a complete performance in, because I don't think we've quite done that over the first few games.
"It was nice to play like that ahead of the knockout rounds.
"Matt Carter has done exceptionally well since he came into the side and it's pleasing to see him take to it like he has."
Derbyshire captain Billy Godleman:
"To be comprehensively beaten as we were is very disappointing.
"It's unacceptable to be bowled out for just over 100. The surface was an interesting one and posed challenges, particularly when the seamers were bowling.
"If we'd have been able to bat for 50 overs I'm sure we could have got at least four runs an over and we'd have been more than capable of scoring over 200, then it's a completely different chase for them."
