Warwickshire 448 & 23-0 beat Somerset 262 & 208 by 10 wickets

Warwicks 23pts, Somerset 3pts

Warwickshire completed their first County Championship double over Somerset in 50 years with a comfortable 10-wicket win at Edgbaston.

Resuming on 191-9, Somerset were all out for 208 when Nick Compton (95) was caught at long on by William Porterfield off Rikki Clarke (4-34).

That left the Bears needing only 23 to seal victory.

Openers Varun Chopra and Ian Westwood took just 20 balls to guide Warwickshire to their target.

It was a routine climax to a game which Somerset all but surrendered on day three with a poor showing from their middle and lower order.

Only their top four batsmen made it into double figures as they collapsed from 131-3 to 208 all out.

Compton's dogged effort prolonged the game into the final day and he raced from 81 at the beginning of play to 95 before his anxiety to reach a century got the better of him as he unsuccessfully tried to launch Clarke to the boundary.

Chopra and Westwood suffered no scares as the Bears eased to a fifth championship win of the season and strengthened their grip on third place.
