BBL Championship: Bristol Flyers run ended by London Lions

Bristol Flyers' 100% start to the British Basketball League season came to an end with defeat at London Lions.

Point guard Rod Brown inspired the hosts to a 76-68 win at the Copper Box.

"Bristol showed themselves to be well organised, but I feel we waited them out and in the end our depth took over," said Lions coach Vince Macaulay.

Elsewhere, champions Worcester Wolves beat Cheshire Phoenix 83-67 on Friday, but were then upset 93-83 by Manchester Giants two days later.

Giants forward David Watts hit six three-pointers on his way to 19 points in the match.

Newcastle Eagles player-coach Fab Flournoy reached 4,000 career points in the BBL during his side's 99-73 win over Durham Wildcats, their first success of the season.

Last year's runners-up Sheffield Sharks bounced back from defeat by Giants to beat Plymouth Raiders 79-55.

But the wait for a first win of the campaign goes on for the BBL's other new team, Leeds Force, after they lost 77-57 at home to Glasgow Rocks before falling 66-48 at Cheshire Phoenix.

Meanwhile, a depleted Rocks were beaten 97-76 at Surrey United on Saturday, as they had to manage without several key players due to illness and injury.
