Pamela Cookey: England co-captain returns from injury

Co-captain Pamela Cookey has been recalled to the England squad for the international series against Malawi.

Cookey, 30, was ruled out of this summer's Commonwealth Games after tearing her Achilles playing for Team Bath in the Superleague in April.

The goal attack will skipper England alongside Jade Clarke during this month's three-match series.

Surrey Storm's Tamsin Greenway has also been named in the 14-strong squad after a two-year absence.

The wing attack, who has won 51 caps, ruled herself out of selection in 2012 to focus on personal projects before having her first child a year later.

"I never stopped playing, as I came back to Surrey three months after giving birth," Greenway, 32, told BBC Surrey.

"I wanted to give it a go for the Commonwealth Games squad but it felt too soon. The decision this time came down to the place I'm in and the way I'm playing.

"I feel like I can give it one last shot. I want to prove to myself that I've still got it in me."

Defender Geva Mentor, recently voted the world's best netballer, could win her 100th international cap during the Test series, which starts on Sunday, 14 December in Liverpool.

The games against Malawi, and the domestic Superleague season in England, will lead up to the Netball World Cup in Australia in August 2015.
