Comment: Dear Sir I am writing to you in connection to the footage that was filmed over the Havant area of Hampshire UK by Anthony woods, I am not a UFO expert but I have some scientific background and I find Steven Gerard’s comments and scientific approach to the case laughable!!
How can MR gerrard catagorilly state that mr woods footage is “fake” without ever viewing or analysing the footage? MR Gerrard's comment and approach to the case is foolhardy and in my opinion born out of deep jealousy and envy, I have never met the Mexican researcher MR Yturria but I have read quite a bit about him, and it is apparent that MR Yturria is a world renowned and very respected UFO researcher, who has had many years in the for-front of the UFO phenomenon! Why is it that MR Gerrard thinks that he is better qualified to work on this case than MR Yturria? Especially considering he is willing to pronounce someone’s footage “fake” without ever seeing it? Its seems to me and I believe 99% of people reading his comments will think that MR Gerard's motives for declaring the footage “fake” is less than honourable. I think it would be wise for MR Gerrard to keep his bias and unscientific opinions to himself if he wishes to be taken seriously himself in the field, I understand MR Gerrard runs a small UFO club in the city of Southampton which is just a few miles along the coast from where MR Woods lives, I think MR Gerrard is well advised to concentrate on running his club rather than rubbishing someone else’s case without ever viewing the footage, and leave it to the experts to decide whether MR Woods footage is genuine or not!!! Answer: I find that the remarks you have made, in reply to those Mr Gerrard has made, to be unfounded. Do you not think it would have been a better approach to contact Mr Gerrard direct before putting your comment into the public domain? Mr Gerrard is the founder of the Southampton UFO Group, of which I am its secretary. Mr Gerrard is an excellent researcher and a good friend. Let me turn to case in point, Bedhampton! Being Steve Gerrard’s group secretary, I have often helped him on cases, particularly on this one, which we have, both worked hard to research. I have a scientific background, being a senior laboratory technician with a local, multi national corporation. I would like to state something for you regarding our approach to this case. Any comments on Steve’s or our part is most definitely not born out of "jealousy or envy", but is born out of frustration? Why frustration? Well this is simple. Ever since this case has come to our attention we have sought more information. As a local group we are in a prime location to conduct a thorough on site investigation, perhaps even being present when these objects are filmed, this would help prove the validity of the case and rule out, if this is the case, any possibility of hoaxing. However, trying to make a judgement on footage when you are unable to gain access to that footage or even the witness is very hard. So while it is obvious that a hornet’s nest has been stirred up due to the comments made, perhaps this was needed to sort the good from the bad. We at SUFOG will have no problem in leaving this case alone to go its own course, and the information we have that may be relative to the case will remain where it is until it can be discussed with the researcher involved. Our only interest has been to actively research and bring the truth to those interested, nothing else. We have sought to contact Mr Yturria on several occasions, but as of yet have had no luck. We do have a high opinion of Mr Yturria, who we have met and seen lecture at the Quest International Leeds UFO Conference in 2001. SUFOG will continue to monitor the case, but will not provide any more opinions unless approached by those involved in the case. I would ask Mr Smithers to consider this; Steve Gerrard is an honest, hard working and honourable person who has never offered an opinion that is any less than honourable. He is also well known and respected to many in the UFO community. So I would suggest that he contact him directly via the SUFOG website to discuss his grievances before making anymore of them public. |
