Inez is a Dutch-Moroccan singer who became a viral sensation with her very first song. As she tells DJ Edu, she really had no idea what she was doing, and yet somehow she found herself with more than 100,000 streams in the first 24 hours. Inez’s first hit was a mash-up of various existing songs, and, as she explains, it took time to gain the confidence she needed to create her own original music. Her sound now draws heavily upon the Arabic classics she grew up listening to, but also American and European pop, and many of her songs combine Darija (Moroccan Arabic) with the Dutch language. Inez is now selling out venues in a number of European cities, including London.
