Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party will choose its new leader on Friday, after Prime Minister Fumio Kishida’s surprise announcement that he’s stepping down. Unions gathered around the country to put pressure on the national employer’s confederation to back the law, which would reduce the working week to 37.5 hours.
