Netflix is to invest $2.5bn in South Korea film industry

Netflix plans to invest $2.5bn in South Korea over the next four years, marking a doubling in its investment since 2016. The announcement from the streaming giant came during a visit by South Korea's president, Yoon Suk Yeol, to the US, and followed talks with Netflix chief executive Ted Sarandos in Washington. US President Joe Biden has announced he will run for re-election in 2024, setting the stage for a potential rematch with Donald Trump. Sugar prices are the highest they have been since 2012 and cocoa prices at their highest since 2016. There are a number of factors at work - including bad weather and the war in Ukraine, which have worked together to create a major headache for the confectionery industry.
