Car manufacturers face stricter rules after German legal ruling

Germany's highest court has ruled that car manufacturers must - in principle - pay compensation to customers whose diesel vehicles were fitted with illegal devices to control emissions. The federal judges' decision could potentially cost Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and other carmakers millions of dollars.
