Eye transplants

Africa Life Clinic

Available for over a year

Certain kinds of blindness can be cured with a cornea transplant. However this relies on eyes being donated in a similar way to other organs. Oyeyemi Gbenga-Mustapha has been to visit an eye bank project in Lagos Nigeria which uses donated eyes to restore sight. However eye donation is still viewed suspiciously by many people as the concept may conflict with traditional beliefs. Presented by Priscilla Ngethe. (Picture: A man walks with a white cane.
