Surviving gay conversion therapy

Outlook

Available for over a year

Growing up in a fundamentalist Christian family in America’s Bible Belt, Garrard Conley had doubts about his sexuality but had to hide it from his community and family, especially his father who was a pastor. When Garrard was at university, he was outed, and his parents felt they had no choice but to send him to a gay conversion therapy camp in a bid to ‘cure’ him of homosexuality. Garrard was soon desperate to leave. Help would come from an unlikely place.
