Iran warns of retaliation if US intervenes as deadly protests intensify
WeekendAvailable for 29 days
Iran protests intensify as reports emerge of hundreds killed or injured despite nationwide blackout, as the country faces its largest anti government protests in years. President Donald Trump has repeatedly warned Iran’s leaders against using force on demonstrators and said the US stands “ready to help”. Also in the programme: A look at Greenland, the vast Arctic island that remains an autonomous Danish territory but has drawn renewed US interest. Concerns over its future have resurfaced after the recent US operation in Venezuela. President Trump, who once said he wanted to buy Greenland, has since refused to rule out economic or military pressure to gain control of it. And Bob Weir, guitarist, songwriter and founding member of the Grateful Dead, has died aged 78 from cancer. He performed alongside Jerry Garcia for three decades. Joining our presenter Julian Worricker to discuss these stories are Gaia Vince, science writer and author and James Rodgers, reader in international journalism at City University in London and a specialist on Russia and the Soviet Union.
