Thailand and Cambodia reach ceasefire

Weekend

Available for 3 days

Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to an immediate ceasefire on Saturday, the two countries said in a joint statement pledging to end weeks of deadly border clashes. The truce - signed by the two countries' defence ministers - will come into effect in half an hour's time. Also in the programme: President Trump has claimed the Christmas Day strikes he ordered on Islamic State militants in northwest Nigeria, "decimated" their camps; Somalia has reacted angrily after Israel became the first country to recognise the breakaway region of Somaliland as an independent state; and harnessing the therapeutic power of music, especially for those in poor health. Joining Julian Worricker to discuss this and more are Celia Szusterman, a Latin America specialist, and Michael Carlson, a British-American writer and broadcaster based in the UK.
