South Korean court due to deliver verdict in insurrection trial

A court in South Korea is expected to rule on insurrection charges against the former president, Yoon Suk-yeol, over his botched attempt to impose military rule. The right-wing politician's declaration in 2024 triggered street protests and was nullified within hours. Mr Yoon was later impeached, removed from office and charged with a series of crimes. The inaugural meeting of US President Donald Trump’s new Board of Peace will be held in Washington today. Expectations in the White House are high, with Mr Trump announcing that the upcoming gathering would unveil five billion dollars in pledged humanitarian and reconstruction aid for Gaza. And we look forward to the women's ice hockey at the Winter Olynpics. The gold medal traditionally goes to either Canada or USA. We speak to fans from either side.
