The Hong Kong media tycoon and pro-democracy campaigner, Jimmy Lai, who's seventy-eight and a British citizen, had been found guilty of foreign collusion and sedition. His family says the sentence is cruel and draconian. The Conservative Sanae Takaichi has won a landslide victory in Japan's election.
