US discusses options to acquire Greenland

Newsday

Available for 25 days

The White House says President Trump and his team have been discussing options for "acquiring" Greenland. Military force, it said, was one option available. Another would be to buy it as US lawmakers heard from Secretary of State Marco Rubio. We look at the viability of such plans and what this might mean for the future of the defence alliance Nato. Donald Trump has said Venezuela will turn over a large quantity of sanctioned oil that will be sold for a fund that he himself will control. And anti-government demonstrations have again flared up in the Iranian capital, Tehran. We look at how widespread these demonstrations have become and claims that thousands have been detained.
