Philippines targets economic recovery

World Business Report

Available for over a year

The Philippines aims for economic recovery after the pandemic ended 21 years of growth. Benjamin Diokno is the governor of the central bank of the Philippines, and explains what role his institution might play towards achieving the goal. Also in the programme, the head of the European Commission has threatened to restrict coronavirus vaccine exports if third countries do not also allow exports in a reciprocal and proportionate way. Ursula von der Leyen told a news conference this could apply to countries with higher vaccination rates than those in the EU. The UK has said it expects the EU to stand by a prior commitment not to restrict exports; we hear from the French MEP, Veronique Trillet Lenoir. Plus, the abuse of people online, or trolling, is on the rise. The BBC's Marie Keyworth reports on whether cyberspace should be a free speech free-for-all, or regulated to screen out the most offensive individuals. (Picture: Benjamin Diokno.
