In a rare intervention, the former US president, Barack Obama, has urged Americans to reject the language of hatred, fear, and racial intolerance from any of their leaders. The Kurdish authorities are pleading with Western governments for support in dealing with foreign fighters from so-called Islamic State, their wives and children. The Ugandan Member of Parliament Bobi Wine is expected in Court today to face charges of treason.
