Nigeria could soon be declared polio free

Newsday

Available for over a year

If Nigeria doesn't record another case of polio for the next two months it'll be officially declared polio-free. The time between now and the end of September is crucial, if it is to gain the World Health Organisation declaration. South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa has been facing strong accusations of misleading parliament over a campaign donation of almost $36,000, according to the corruption watchdog there. He says the reports are fundamentally flawed. The World Health Organization has declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo an international public health emergency. Help coming from some Ebola survivors is being welcomed by health authorities.
