Direct talks between Sudan's military rulers and protest leaders have resumed with some progress being made on the release of political prisoners, a mediator has said. The United Nations Security Council has been meeting behind closed doors to discuss the attack on a migrant detention centre in Libya which killed at least 44 people in the capital, Tripoli. California has become the first US state to ban discrimination against natural hairstyles.
