US Jobless Rate Hits 49-Year Low

World Business Report

Available for over a year

The US unemployment rate fell to 3.7% in September, the lowest level since December 1969. Our reporter in New York tells us why unemployment is falling. Also in the programme, the giant consumer goods company Unilever has reversed its decision to relocate its headquarters from the UK to the Netherlands. We find out what's behind the reversal. We have a special report from Indonesia on the challenges in the capital, Jakarta, around reducing traffic congestion. This week was a big one for the British book market, with 544 new hardback books published on a day dubbed 'Super Thursday'. We find out more from Meryl Halls of the Booksellers Association, and Natalia Delarosa of the London Review Bookshop. Plus we look back at the rest of the week's big business stories with Lianna Brinded, head of finance for Yahoo UK, and Jessica Dye, associate US news editor of the Financial Times.
