UK Brexit Strategy Divisions Revealed

World Business Report

Available for over a year

Former foreign secretary Boris Johnson attacked UK government plans for a Brexit deal. Our reporter at the Conservative party conference in Birmingham has been gauging reaction from the business community to Mr Johnson's intervention. Plans in Italy to increase the country's budget deficit have been criticised by the president of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker. Paola Subacchi is senior fellow at the London research group Chatham House, and tells us how much concern there is in Brussels over Italy's plans. Professor Jeffrey Sachs of Columbia University, who's also an advisor to the United Nations, tells us why he's concerned by US president Donald Trump's rejection of globalism. Plus in light of Nike's decision to use American football quarterback Colin Kaepernick as a brand ambassador we find out whether running a controversial advertising campaign hurts a company's bottom line.
