Russian Duma Debates Controversial Pension Reform

World Business Report

Available for over a year

The Russian parliament has been debating a controversial increase in retirement age. Denis Volkov is a sociologist and head of the Levada Centre in Moscow, which conducts political polling, and tells us why the issue has become so contentious. Also in the programme, Microsoft says it has unearthed evidence of Russian meddling in the US mid-term elections. We get analysis from Joseph Lorenzo Hall, chief technologist at the Centre for Democracy and Technology in Washington, DC. Our reporter in Singapore examines how significantly a trade war between China and the United States is likely to affect China's Asian neighbours. We find out about the economic contribution made around the world by working animals. Plus as Jamaican sprint champion Usain Bolt hopes to transfer to playing professional football, David Mark, national sports editor of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, tells us how likely he is to succeed.
